Does style really matter if you want to be successful or can we get through life keeping it cozy…
This is an interesting topic to discuss with strong arguments for and against.
Let’s be honest, some of the wealthiest and happiest people in the world are often seen wearing the most unstylish and unfashionable things known to man.
Sometimes to the point where you think, “mate, come on now, you can’t seriously be wearing that”.
Yet, I’m sure we all know those people who just look a 1000 all day. That guy or girl who always leaves you thinking “how do they do it, like literally he/she never has a bad day!”.
But, this post isn’t about casting judgment on the people’s dress sense. On the contrary, we should celebrate these people. Your style is a reflection of your personality and originality!
No matter if you’re wearing a suit/dress, jeans & a tee or even some sweatpants, your outfits radiate the message you want to communicate to the world.
A three-piece suit could say you’re ready for business or a pair of jeans and t-shirt could say you’re busy but feeling more casual today.
No matter what you wear! One thing is for sure!
FIRST IMPRESSIONS MATTER!
Yes, your style should be unique and reflect how you’re feeling that day. But, bear in mind your first impression can play a big factor in your success or failure in certain situations.
“When meeting new people, verbal impact accounts for 7% of the first impression, whereas, 55% is communicated by the way you dress, act and walk through the door.”
In closing, I think style does matter but it isn’t the be-all and end-all. My style is a reflection of how I feel on the day or where I’m going.
Sometimes, that may mean a tracksuit and t-shirt, other times, it’s a blue polo and ecru blazer from P Johnson Tailors.
Let’s keep it real, who’s really dressing for the catwalk Monday – Sunday!
Dress for the occasion. Keep it comfortable. Style it how you like. And let the haters hate!
